TASK FORCE UPDATE

The task force met March 2nd to discuss the new CDC recommendations that were released on February 25th.  The CDC is using different metrics to determine some COVID safety measures.  Instead of looking at community transmission they are looking at community levels.  Community transmission considers the percent positive case numbers and the number of positive cases per 100,000 people.  Community levels consider the number of hospitalizations and whether hospitals will be able to care for patients.  Currently, the community transmission in Sheboygan County is high, but community levels are low.  Because of the low community levels and the updated CDC recommendations, the St. Peter Task Force has decided to strongly recommend people wear masks in the church building.

Please remember that we still participate in high-risk behavior, such as singing.  This is especially true for Wednesday evening worship during Lent.  The Holden Evening Prayer service is entirely singing.  We also still have many people in our congregation who are not vaccinated or who are at high risk for serious illness.  We understand that some people are very ready to stop wearing masks and that some people appreciate it when others do wear masks.  We are cautiously adding more liturgy and music into our worship services.  We are also mindfully working on incorporating more volunteers back into the service. For the time being, we will still refrain from eating together.

We have made a lot of progress in the past months.  With vaccinations (86.2% of people aged 65 and over are vaccinated in Sheboygan County), new treatments, and testing we can move forward knowing that we are learning how to live with COVID-19 while continuing to love each other.  The Task Force will continue to watch the community levels and if levels reach medium or high, we may require masks again.  You will continue to see the signs and tables with masks at church as reminders to care for each other.  Please use the masks that are available if you would like one upon entering the church building.

Northside Christian Food Pantry

Good news!  St. Peter will restart the collection of food. The shopping cart will be set out to put your items. Every month there will be a short list of much needed items. Besides the list know that toilet paper, paper towel, and Kleenex are always appreciated.   These are the items for March:  Canned Tuna/Chicken, Rice/Pasta sides, Baked Beans, Mac and Cheese, 64 oz. Laundry Detergent, and Toilet Paper.

During the past couple of years, St. Peter members have designated financial offerings in lieu of products. Your loyal and faithful contributions have been appreciated and would gladly welcome your continued support.  Know that MANY appreciate your contributions. ~ Pat L.
