Summer Worship

Our summer worship schedule will allow us to gather all at the same time, enjoy the outdoors, and appreciate our indoor worship space.

Starting Memorial Day weekend, and going through Labor Day weekend, we will have one service at 9:00am that will alternate locations between the parking lot and sanctuary.

The service will continue to be livestreamed to the church Facebook page, recorded, and posted to the church website and YouTube channel.

We know that a lot of people liked the opportunity to worship in the parking lot last summer and that a lot of people are more comfortable indoors.  We also recognize that indoor crowds are still uncomfortable and unsafe for many people who are part of our worshiping community.

For parking lot worship bring a chair, blanket, or something comfy to sit on.  Cones will be out to separate the worship and parking spaces.  Kids can grab their Sunday School bins that will be stocked with bubbles and sidewalk chalk.  If the weather does not cooperate, we will move into the sanctuary.

Worship in the sanctuary will look much like it does now.  Children’s bulletins and crayons will be available, and families are welcome to use the Pray Ground.

COUNCIL UPDATE

The St. Peter Council met on April 21, 2022.  Everyone shared God-Sightings and respectful communication guidelines were discussed.  The Task Force shared a request regarding small groups being able to bring individual lunches/snacks to be eaten during activities. The Task Force was in favor of allowing small groups to bring their own lunches/snacks.  The council discussed this request and approved a motion to support the Task Force recommendation.  This is a change from when we decided to stop sharing meals together two years ago.  We are excited to continue to move forward in positive and healthy ways!  We realize this continues to be hard for some people, but we are still mindful of risks and need to be respectful of changes that have occurred in our faith community.

An Endowment Team update was given, and we are delighted to announce we have surpassed our goal of raising $25,000, which allows us to transfer funds to the ELCA Endowment Fund Pooled Trust.  Thank you!!

Council liaisons were assigned for different missions.  Also, a ‘Key Policy’ was reviewed, discussed, and approved.  It reflects the need for more security, controlled access to the building, and allows for appropriate access for individuals and teams.

Note: You will continue to receive regular council updates in this email.  These updates include the significant information from the most recent meeting.  If you would like the “official” minutes, you may reply to this email and Carrie can send them to you.  Copies of all council and team meeting minutes that we receive can be found in the binder marked “Council Reports” that is kept below the bulletin board in the narthex.

RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT MISSION NEWS

Endowment

A milestone has been reached and thanks to the members of St. Peter we have met the required $25,000 needed to transfer funds from an ELCA interest bearing account to the ELCA Endowment Fund Pooled Trust. This will provide a greater return on our investment.  Our account balance as of March 31, 2022, was $28,262.

We will provide members with more information throughout the year about the endowment, its purpose, and its benefits.  Current Board Members are:  Pat L., Ron W., Pam W., and Dick S. Please reach out if you have questions.

No gift is too small. Donations can be made for birthdays, anniversaries, or in honor/memory of someone. Please consider St Peter and our endowment when you are estate planning.
