All Saints’ Sunday
November 6th is All Saints’ Sunday.  We will be remembering those from our congregation who passed away in 2022 with candles placed near the altar.   If you would like a candle placed in memory of a loved one who passed away this year, please contact Carrie in the office at 452-4771 by Wednesday, November 2nd.

COUNCIL UPDATE

The St. Peter Council met on October 20, 2022.  Reports were shared and each Mission gave updates.  The date for the annual meeting was set for February 5, 2023, at 11:00am.  A motion was made and approved for WELCA to hold a cookie sale.  The council discussed participating in the ‘Congregational Vitality Survey.’  This was recommended to us by the synod and is an opportunity for us to learn about how we can focus our attention on the growth and vitality of St. Peter.  A motion was made, and was passed, for St. Peter to participate in the survey.  More details will be shared soon about the survey.

Note: You will continue to receive regular council updates in this email.  These updates include the significant information from the most recent meeting.  If you would like the “official” minutes, you may reply to this email and Carrie can send them to you.  Copies of all council and team meeting minutes that we receive can be found in the binder marked “Council Reports” that is kept below the bulletin board in the narthex.

FINANCIAL UPDATE
The Finance Team met last week and discussed the many ministries that our financial giving supports.  Stories were shared about our large confirmation class and how much fun they are having learning about God’s love for them.  You can see the row of boxes full of bibles and books in the Fellowship Hall that the kids use every week.  It is because of your giving that we were able to purchase tools like Bibles and curriculum for them to use during classes on Wednesday nights.  We play games that allow them to learn how to use their Bibles and they write questions in their lesson books that they have about the creation unit they are working on right now.  The finance team also discussed the money that St. Peter spent on maintaining the church property this year.  Several trees had to be cut down and we are working on making sure that our property is properly maintained.

As of October 25, 2022, our checking account balance is $800.00.  This is concerning and calls for immediate action.  Please consider how you can continue to faithfully contribute to the ministries of St. Peter.  If you don’t currently share financial gifts, please prayerfully consider if this might be a good time for you to start.  If you can contribute an additional gift, it will be put to good use!  What you give matters and God works through you to do the work of the church.  Thank you!

Lutheran World Relief
LWR collections are always ongoing.  Currently for the months of Nov/Dec we are collecting:   For the Layettes:  T-shirts in sizes 6 mos – 24 mos, and socks in toddler sizes.  For Health Care kits:  white bar soap, wide tooth combs, and nail clippers.  Your donations are tax deductible, just ask Carrie for a form.  Thank you so much.

Mitten Tree
The Mitten Tree is up in the back corner of the Fellowship Hall and ready for your donations of warm mittens and gloves for our friends at the elementary schools.  We did receive a wonderful donation of almost 120 handmade hats – so we would love your donations of mittens and gloves in a range of colors and sizes.  We would love to send items to the schools before it gets cold, so they are ready to go!  Thank you!

Join us for quilting for Lutheran World Relief on Tuesdays from 9am– 12pm in the quad room.  Please come, we have a lot of work to do.  No experience necessary.  We will teach you.  See you there.

We have had some unexpected transitions in Bridgeway, as well as some hardships among our aftercare families, such as serious medical issues, mental health instability, and reduced employment. If you are able to help some of our families with holiday gifts, we would be grateful that they have an opportunity to create warm memories during difficult times. Please contact executive director, Lisa Stephan, at lisa@sheboygancountyinterfaith.org.

Giving Tuesday and End of Year Giving:  Please mark your calendar and join us on November 29th.  We will be taking curbside donations (9-10:30am, 1-2:30pm, 4-5:30pm) and providing house tours (11am-12pm, 3-4pm).  Our fundraising end of year goal is $20,000.
