Worship Assistants

We need your help!  February services are posted to Sign Up Genius.  Please sign up using the link below or call Carrie to sign up.  We need your help on Ash Wednesday as well.  Thank you!

Stay Healthy!

It’s cold and flu season!  These cold temperatures force everyone indoors and the germs are out in full force.  This is just a reminder that if you are not feeling well, please stay home and enjoy worship online.   If you do come to church, please consider wearing a mask to protect yourself and others!  Masks are still available inside the main doors and at the fellowship hall entrance.

SUNDAY SCHOOL/COFFEE FELLOWSHIP UPDATE

Sunday school is now in the fellowship hall and coffee fellowship is in the fireside room.  For safety reasons, the fellowship hall doors are intentionally locked on Sunday mornings.  Please use the main doors to enter the building when you come for worship, Sunday School, or coffee fellowship.  You may exit through the main doors or fellowship hall doors.

CONGREGATIONAL VITAILTY SURVEY RESULTS

Thank you for participating in the Congregational Vitality Survey!  The results show that we are awesome!  The things we struggle with are the things that every other church struggles with too.  The things that we had high scores on are the things that you would want a church to score high on.  You can read about the results in the attached document from Pastor Debra Trakel, the synod representative who facilitated the survey for us.  If you have any questions please respond to this email or reach out to Pastor Kristin.

SPAM EMAILS

It has been brought to our attention that people have been receiving emails from someone who is pretending to be Pastor Kristin. Do not open or reply to emails that look suspicious. Pastor Kristin will never send requests for money, gift cards, or photos via email. She also will never email photos without talking to you about it first. Emails actually sent from Pastor Kristin will have the name “Pastor Kristin Berglund” in the from line and will be from the email address kberglund@stpetersheboygan.com. If you receive an email that looks suspicious do not open it and notify Carrie or Pastor Kristin.  Thank you!

SOCIAL OUTREACH MISSION NEWS

Mitten Tree

We made deliveries to Grant and Longfellow Schools.  The tree is naked – that means we need to dress it with more hats, mittens, and gloves!  Thank you to all who help with this ministry.

Fidget Mats

Fidget mats and cuffs continue to be popular items.   We give thanks to the many hands that create these, each with their own special style and creativity.   Every place we take them there is so much appreciation, especially since their budgets are small and because of your generosity in giving doodads and gizmos we can gift them.   Please join us each Thursday morning from 10:00am-12:00pm in the Quadrooms.  No experience necessary, we can help you get started.

Quilting

Join us for quilting for Lutheran World Relief on Tuesdays from 9:00am–12:00pm in the quad room.  Please come, we have a lot of work to do.  No experience necessary.  We will teach you.  See you there.

El Salvador News

This year there are 12 students that will be leaving our program – several because of graduations!  There are a few that had to move from the area due to gang problems.  We have received a list of 21 new students, most in the grade school system.  We will be seeking help from the entire congregation hoping to find some new sponsors. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anytime. The cost of sponsoring a student in the grade school is $180.00 per year.  Cost breaks down to $15.00 a month or $3.75 per week. Scholarships can be paid over an entire year or may be paid in a lump sum. It’s up to the individual sponsors.  All I ask is for prayerful consideration.  Love Always, Jim

SCIO

Three families/10 people are currently living in the Bridgeway House. We continue to meet each individual where they are at to set goals and move through past traumas. Please hold the Bridgeway family in your thoughts and prayers as we venture through a season of change with staff and new residents. Bridgeway is in need of twin bed blankets and new pillows. SCIO families are also in need of transportation assistance. Daily bus passes and gas cards are welcomed donations as we make our way through the winter months.

The Winter Market will continue every first and third Saturday from 9am-12pm, through April. The Winter Market is located inside First Congregational UCC Church, 310 Bluff Avenue. We will continue to offer EBT and $15 Double Your Bucks match at every market! Look for new vendors in 2023!

Want to make a difference? Looking for a part-time position in the evening and alternating weekends? We are hiring Program Assistants for about 10-15 hours a week for Family Pathways and Bridgeway.  Please send a resume or email your interest to lisa@sheboygancountyinterfaith.org.

Please help SCIO with the following items:  sidewalk salt/de-icer, diapers size 5 and 6, infant and toddler socks.

Northside Christian Food Pantry
