El Salvador Ministry

El Salvador CrosselsalvadorhousePastor Rafael
As part of the Greater Milwaukee Synod of the ELCA, St. Peter shares in a global ministry partnership with Iglesia Luterana Saladorena, the Lutheran Church of El Salvador. In August of 2000, our congregation made the decision to enter into a sister parish relationship with Apostles of Christ, one of the Lutheran congregations in El Salvador.

Our relationship is based on the ELCA model of accompaniment, walking together as sisters and brothers in Christ, a journey that includes regular communication, praying for each other, mutual friendship, and visits. We are always learning from each other and value our growing relationship and understanding of each other as children of God living in different cultural contexts.

Together we have developed a student scholarship program that supports education and the learning of skills that will hopefully lead to future employment.

Knitting and Crocheting Ministry

Red knitted hat
The knitting and crocheting ministry creates hats and sweaters for Lutheran World Relief. We also knit prayer shawls for members of the congregation or for whomever we find that needs comfort. The knitting and crocheting group meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 2:00-3:00 PM between Labor Day and Memorial Day.

St. Peter Cafe is a free monthly meal put on by St. Peter. We feed everyone who comes through the door, which is often about 100 people.

Shalom Ministry

The Shalom/Fellowship Ministry provides leadership and encourages the congregation towards working towards “shalom” or wholeness. The Shalom/Fellowship Ministry plans activities throughout the year focusing and keeping” in mind the Kingdom Concept: We glorify God by building healthy relationships with God, each other and in our community, along with guidance of the wholeness model, including social/Interpersonal, emotional, physical, financial, vocational, and intellectual well-being.

Buildings and Grounds

Our ministry is to keep God’s house a place where the weary can find rest, peace, safety, and solitude. We strive to keep God’s house strong. It is not only something that we as Christians want to do but it is our duty. Making God’s house beautiful and well-maintained is a powerful ministry statement.
